I suspect this is one of those newbie question but I have been trying various things for the last few hours including working through documentation , faq's and here so please bear with me...
I am using the community version of Sugar running on a Ubuntu server.
I have imported my account data - a few minor probs with date fields but now sorted. As part of that I added a number of new data fields including a unique customer ID number. Both this and the account file are pulled of my accounts system.
My problem comes when I import the customer contact data. This contains a range of contact data fields which are in Sugar as standard together with a few custom fields which I've hand rolled. The import file has one field in common with the account data import file - that unique customer ID number.
The contact data imports fine but doesn't show up when i look at the accounts. The sub-panel does not show any contacts.
From my past experience with DB's I presumed that it would need a one to many relationship (Account to Contacts) which wasn't listed in the Studio - that only indicates a many to many. I may well be wrong on this :-)
Adding a one to many didn't help ( and I couldn't edit the default ones) and i was surprised not to see any option to specify the linking field. Have DB's come on so much that I don't need to do this ?
Is it also the case that you can't add a custom field that you've setup for one module to another module. Shirley it would have been the logical thing to do to add the same unique customer ID field that I set up for account for contacts as well and then just mapped it onto the import file field ?
I suspect this might be a d'oh moment so feel free to point me at something but please note this is not my day job so XML schemas might not be for me. I'm presuming this is something simple(ish)
Thanks for any help - it's Easter Sunday here so I'm off to walk the dog and get some chocolate
