Hi guys,
Please skip the story I am telling praising Sugar, scroll down if you just want to see the small issue I am having.
My story is as follows, I tell it in the hope that it solves some similar issues for people in a similar position to me.
Sugar is great and I have used it to create an awesome, free solution to a fairly complex problem for a client.
I manage websites, Joomla mostly, for some clients. One of these clients needed a complex website "lead" capture (think contact us form with multiple questions) and then some way to manage this information.
There are a few joomla crm solutions, here, but none of these are any good for my needs, most are in infancy developement wise, with various reviews.
I decided to go with a CRM script that was mature, the choice came down to Sugarcrm ce or Vtiger. After downloading both, I decided that sugar looked the easiest to install and off I went.
I will say here that if there was no CE version, I probably would have went Vtiger - cost was a factor.
Anyway, it installs easy, like any other php/mysql script and is intuitive.
I was able to create a web lead capture form easy enough, make some small adjustments to the forms html to make it look a little prettier.
To install it in my joomla site, I needed a module that allowed me to have html/javascript code and wouldnt mess with it (joomla likes to do things to code) and I went with this module here.
So 3 free scripts/plugins being Joomla 1.5, SugarCRM CE, and the above custom code in module module and I was good to go, I now had a customised contact us form to capture leads from the best website script being Joomla, into a great, versatile, CRM package called Sugar.
I can also capture multiple leads from multiple sites into the one sugar install, it all works a dream.
So, doing the above, will get you a very powerful solution to capturing leads from a customised contact form on Joomla into a CRM package.
Now, the drama/bug.
I have been able to modify heaps of things related to Leads using studio, making multiple fields etc, its all intuitive and works great.
The only drama I am having is the Lead list views modification. I add some extra info to this view, being status description, and suburb, and I cannot see it in about half the users once I save and deploy.
It is really strange, for some users, the changes show, and it works as advertised, but for other users, including the admin, the changes made to the view do not show. Its frustrating. Creating new users will automatically show the changes but only half the existing users can see the changed lead list view.
So I know studio/views works, but only for half my users. If anyone can advise how to sort this little bug out, I would very much appreciate it.
Thanks for the great product, hopefully my testimonial above will help others looking to customise web contact forms on their joomla sites into a powerful CRM package - FOR FREE!
Thanks again
