Default Successful gmail users, pls read...

    Hi,

I have setup the email setting in admin with userA's gmail authentication, but when i send email out from both userA and userB.... the from email address is userA. It looks like the system is not using the email account setup for each user, but is using the system setup in administration's Email Settings -> "Email Notification Options".

this happens for both 5.20 and 5.20a versions.

    anyone successfully done this?

    thanks in advance!

    jlin,
when you use GMAIL as SMTP (which requires GMAIL username/password for authentication), it will replace from address to GMAIL username. So in this sceanrio you have setup a system account using userA and yopu are using userB to send out an email. But this userB is using the system account and although sugar is sending the corect fom address of userB, GMAIl is replacing it with userA's gmail address.

So the solution is to set up a an outbound server in userB and use that to send out an email and then it will work.

so, let me see if i am understanding correctly...

are you saying that whenever userB wants to send an email, the system setting should be set to use his email address? then whenever userA wants to send an email, the system setting needs to be set back to userA's email address?

if that is so, it sounds like a bug to me...
    tks

Nope, that's not what I am trying to say.

For userB, you can set up an Inbound Account on Email UI and at that time you can create an outbound account tied to this inbound account and it will be userB's personal inbound/outbound account. Once you set up that and compose an email by logging in as userB, in the from dropdown list select this newly created userB's account and it will send an email with the "from" as userB's from email address.
