Suddenly Getting HTTP 500 Errors Half the Time

I am using the open source version of 5.5.2. It has been running fine, but this morning, we found that about half of our attempts to do a lead search led to an HTTP 500 error. After refreshing the web page a few times, things would come up. I went to the ADMIN area and found a repair routine, so I used the backup routine and then ran the repair routine. It came up with some things it said it did and some changes it wanted me to approve. I did not set up Sugar, but I know we had someone customize it quite a bit, so I did not approve the changes. Sugar then started running just fine for about 6 hours and now it is back to getting a bunch of HTTP 500 errors and this time, it will not let me get to the ADMIN area (due to same error).

I have reset the server since rebooting never hurts the cause on Windows. I also found that the drive that hosts Sugar was VERY low on disk space (like 2MB free) so I deleted things and now have 10GB free. Another webiste that runs from this computer is working perfectly, so IIS seems fine (even though I tried an IISRESET as well).

I have no idea what is going on that is suddenly causing Sugar to give so many HTTP 500 errors. I did some searching in the forum and either did not use the best search terms, or I am the first to encounter this problem.

I am open to the possibility of reinstalling Sugar (assuming I can find the install for this older version since we were told we cannot update due to our customization) but I do not want to lose any customization if reinstalling would wipe it out.

I know less than I should about how we are configured since we relied too heavily on the guy who set it up, who is often helpful but also often hard to reach when we need him. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'll... well, I probably can't do much, but I'll say thank you and I'll mean it. I can do the pretty please with sugar on top if it helps (just not Sugar CRM on top since our copy of Sugar is not working too well).

We got a call back from the guy who set up our Sugar and he found some missing files. He suspects rights issues ot likely) or the low disk space might have caused a problem that was compunded by the creation of a diagnostic file. We are fixed.
