Sugar 4.5.1 Patch J - Coming soon

Hello all -

We plan to release 4.5.1 patch J in two weeks (end of March). As we are at the end of the development phase of this release, no more bug fixes will be added to this patch.

This patch release is known as the 4.5.1 Maryland release and will be released as patch J. The next patch release is the 4.5.1 Virginia release. No date has been set for the Virginia release yet.

great news but why do you use name for all the patches?
So far you have patch Maryland and virginia ok if we read theforum we will undersatnd that Virginia is the patch that will be released after Mayland but how are we stuppose to know the order or future patch?
i dont think that this naming stuff is a good idea.

Great question and one I asked as well when the engineers came up with the new naming scheme.

Occasionally we have to ship an unexpected patch. This happens when we have a critical bug come up where the fix must be shipped immediately and can't wait for the rest of the planned bug fixes. So instead we now name a patch release and only attach a patch letter to the release once the release is imminent.

A perfect example is the 5.0.0 patch C. We thought the Colombia release would be patch C. Instead, we had to change plans and get a smaller release out sooner. That new patch release is now the Chile release which will be patch C.

Maybe you should have somewhere (Wiki) the whole history of releases, patch etc with teh CIA code

Something else: it takes hours to check all the links in teh list you just submitted becasue the bug portal is VERY slow....
What about having a "download" link or something like that to be able to downloada PDF or a Excel file with the summary of all the bug fixed ?

Once the patch has been released, the release notes should have the information about what bugs have been fixed.
