Sugar 4.5 / email outbound

First of all I like to confratulate sugar for this application. I work now several months with it in production and I am very happy with it, from a functionality point of view as well as user-friendliness. There is only 1 "but"
At least in my installation (FC5, sugar 4.5) the email client is very unstalbe; whilst the inbound part works with no issues, the sending part drives me crazy. Sometimes I send emails with no problems, sometimes sugar simply returns a "Send error". In my case it is a very errratic behaviour; sometimes it works and sometimes not. I cannot find any systematic behind it.
The sugar log file does not give me any hint neither, even if I it into debugging mode. (http://www.sugarcrm.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17534). If there is somebody out there who can help me fixing this or at least point me into the right direction, I'd be very greatful.

What are potential causes that sugar does not send an email and create an error message like this?
The email address from this email exists. The configuration is the same than in thunderbird. I send the email through thunderbird with no probelm. I can send (sometimes) emails with no problem!!!!

I deleted the contact from sugarcrm and re-entered it. This had no effect
I do not know what to do anymore.am really puzzled!

I found sugar very sensitive to MTA (SMTP server) configuration.
On my test env server (Debian 3.1) i have somwhat the same problem until i discoverd that the domain maskerading was configured badlly.
I dont know waht MTA (SMTP server) you are using. I used postfix.I changed maually the $mydomain section at postfix my.cfg file form host.domain.com to just domain.com and the trick worked.
I can do more help if you tell me what MTA are you using on what OS etc.
Is far as my experience go it is a missconfigured SMTP server and not sugar problem.
Do one more check: if you have Outlook or outlook express try to set your user account and see if you can read send mail. If i am right it shouldn`t work....

It is a remote mail server. When trying to login via telent it tells me.

Unfortunately I have no control over this remote server and I doubt heavily that I will be able to change some parameters over there.
For I find very strange though is that with the same user I can send emails 8sometimes) and sometimes it dies not work.
I have exactly the same configuration as under sugar and I never had any of these problems with thunderbird.
(btw, I run under FC5, mysql-5.0.22-1.FC5.1, php-5.1.6-1.1, httpd-2.2.2-1.2

I know I am bothering the forum with tyhis same topic but I am realy realy realy realy desperate.
The email client of sugar works only in a very erratic way (only thre outbound part). Same user, same parameter settings, sometimes emails are sent and sometimes not. It is not a question of email address as I sent the emauils through thunderbird then with no problem.


If there is an expert, I will even be willing to grant access access to my server via ssh. But I need to fix this, it is so cumbersome to work.

Please Please Please Please Please give me some hints on where I need to look.
