Sugar 5.0 - 5.1 upgrade wizard failed

Hi. I'm a new sugarcrm user and I've tried the upgrade wizard to bring sugar to 5.1. The upgrade wizard seems to be stuck on:

Upgrade Steps:
1: System Checks
2: Upload an upgrade:
3: Preflight Check
4: Commit Upgrade In Progress
5: Debrief

the upgradewizard.log shows:

Fri, 29 Aug 2008 13:24:36 -0600 [UpgradeWizard] - [At commit.php]
Fri, 29 Aug 2008 13:24:36 -0600 [UpgradeWizard] - Setting error_reporting() to E_ERROR while running upgrade
Fri, 29 Aug 2008 13:24:36 -0600 [UpgradeWizard] - Resetting error_reporting() to system level.

Now, when trying to open/edit a contact sugar just comes back with a blank screen. Can someone please shed some light? Thanks.
