Sugar Account Setup

Hi, hope you can help.

I'm new to Sugar so apologies if I miss out any important information.

I'm currently trying to add a new account to our sugar crm account. This will run sort of as a seperate division to the main one. This way we can upload contacts to this database for eshot etc.

Does anyone have the instructions on how to setup such an account. Any help would be much appreciated.

You should do this manualy or write SQL queries. In what format contacts are stored?

When I login to the sugar crm (http://www.clarocrm.com/index.php?ac...n&module=Users) I can view the contacts by clicking on the contacts tab. I am unsure as to which format this is. Do you know how I can find out which format the contacts are saved in?

Contacts are saved in a database.

Can you explain better what you are trying to do? The contacts are saved in a SQL database.

Are you wanting to store data for multiple companies/offices within a single install of Sugar? If so, you should be aware that it is not designed for that and the only way you can somewhat mimic the behavior required to separate the data would be through the use of the built-in security features, but even then, your mileage will vary.

I am trying to create a database that is separate from the contacts already in the system. Is this possible in Sugar?

Don't understand your goal.

Per my previous reply, if your goal is merely to keep certain users from seeing some records, use the security features to do it.

If you are looking to completely duplicate the existing contacts module (for reasons that I've yet to comprehend) for the purposes of providing two different offices two distinct and secured contact lists, you are better off doing it by means of multiple installations.
