Lightbulb Sugar CRM Email Problems with Exchange Server - The Solution!

I believe I have figured out my Email Deletion problem along with many other email issues; such as moving emails and directory creation. This is a repost from another thread. If you are using SugarCRM with a MS Exchange Server then you want to read this message. In summary, you need to set your Users' IMAP Exchange Settings to use the Unicode (UTF-8) character set.

Please see the attached GIF file while reading this email.

    1. In order to change the IMAP settings within Exchange, you'll need to log into your exchange server.
    2. Go to the Active Directory Users and Computers.
    3. Find your Domain then the Users
    4. Once you see your user(s), right click and select Properties for a user.
    5. Click on the Exchange Features Tab
    6. Click on IMAP4 (or IMAP)
    7. Click on Properties to bring open the IMAP4 settings.
At this point, you should see the windows in the attached image.
    1. Uncheck the "use protocol defaults".
    2. Check Both for Mime encoding; or use HTML - it's your choice.
    3. Change the default character set from "Western European 8859-1" to "Unicode UTF-8". The Sugar CRM system uses UTF-8 encoding. Correct me if I'm wrong. This change fixed many of my IMAP email issues.
    4. Uncheck "Use Microsoft Exchange rich-text format"
    5. Check "Enable fast message retrieval"
    6. Uncheck "Include all public folders when a folder list is requested". This particular setting can cause serious issues if you have a large Public Folders section of Exchange.
I hope this helps others with some of the email problems. You'll need to adjust these settings for each one of your users that is using Sugar CRM.

    Cheers,
    Jeff Walters

will this affect other email clients who are already using IMAP to connect to a exchange server?

    The other thread was at:
    http://www.sugarcrm.com/forums/showt...4&page=2&pp=10

    Version 5.0.0b

I did notice that in one of our accounts, I had to delete the inbound email account from the Admin area and then re-add the account from the Users Email settings. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the email_cache table, but that would be my guess. One of our 12 sales people is still having problems deleting emails.

If we could get an Sugar CRM expert to confirm the UTF-8 setting that would be great. <?>

I'm fairly certain that if you change the IMAP4 settings for a user in Exchange then it will effect all of that users' IMAP connections. You could probably create a different user for other IMAP situations. I'm honestly not sure. I'd need more information to be helpful.

On a side note, I was changing the inbound settings and somehow my outbound settings started to fail. So, I had to reset all of our outbound SMTP settings to Exchange as well as the inbound. It was a long day of email settings.

    Cheers,
    Jeff Walters
