Question Sugar On Demand sync using ODBC

    Hello,

I've been scouring the forums looking to see if this question has been answered and I can't seem to find a related post.

The key here may be that I am a Sugar On-Demand customer. I want to do a one way sync of our legacy accounting system with Sugar. Accounts will only be created in our Legacy app, then when the sync happens they should appear in Sugar. Sugar does not need to report anything back to the legacy system.

Right now, I pull the info from the legacy app into excel using ODBC. I do some data transformation on it, then save is as a delimited file and import it into Sugar.

Is there any way for me to automate this? I would like this to happen automatically every night.

Thanks in advance for any responses!

I think TALEND open Studio would be the best solution for your problem.
TALEND offers Data sync between different data sources and has sugar crm data model build in.

    Thanks kuske!

I'll start investigating TALEND now. I was worried that I didn't have that much flexibility with the On-Demand version on SugarCRM.

    Thanks again

You can use Talend for your needs. It will be able to help you out well.

Talend Open Studio is an open source ETL tool for data integration and migration experts. It's easy to learn for a non-technical user. What distinguishes Talend, when it comes to business users, is the tMap component. It allows the user to get a graphical and functional view of integration processes.

Talend shoudl also work with onDemand since it connects using soap. Nevertheless you will stumble and fall sooner or later sinc ethere are severe limitations in the functionality of the Standard SOAP Interface and lso with thte performance. Native Talend going to the Database will be fine but will not work with the SUgarOndemand Suite. That will require you to trun on site.

Thanks for all the info guys. I've got Talend now and have been working with it for about a week. It seems great! Pulls the correct data, I can do some transformation on certain fields and send it right into Sugar.

I am having one problem and I wonder if anyone here has experienced it. I posted this in the talend forums as well. When I use the SugarOutput module in Talend, I keep getting a server timeout error. I am trying to update about 1000 accounts. It will go through a random number from 20 to 250 and then stop with an error:

    Exception in component tSugarCRMOutput_1
    AxisFault
    faultCode: {http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/}Server.userException
    faultSubcode:
faultString: java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect
    faultActor:
    faultNode:
    faultDetail:
    {http://xml.apache.org/axis/}stackTrace:java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect

If anyone has any experience with this please let me know what you think.

Thanks again for all your suggestions.
