Question Sugar server installation email problem

    Hi,

Tested SugarCRM in VMware virtual machine running Ubuntu Linux 8.04. VMWare is running on XP Pro SP3

My IMAP mail was sending and receiving OK. Now when I moved SugarCRM onto the external server I can not receive anything. Test settings give nagging about the SSL cerficate, even I am not using a SSL connection ?

The certificate of course is wrong - it is written to the server owner company, not to my domain, but why is it even checking it ?

As well I have problems with sending. If I use servers' smtp address, I can only send mail to the addresses that have the same domain. If I change the SMTP-server to my ISP's SMTP-server, I can send only mail to addresses using that domain. To 3rd party domains I can not send anything. So Sugar is absolutely useless at the moment. And I need it to be ion the server, if I want to use tracker URL's etc, right ?

Not tried Sendmail, but according to this
http://www.sugarcrm.co/wiki/index.ph...marked_as_spam I do not have any point even trying.

"Outgoing emails are being sent via sendmail. Using sendmail makes the emails fail the reverse DNS lookup on your domain, as the "From" address' domain will not resolve to the IP address of our On-Demand servers. This is a standard test performed by most anti-spam filters.

    Solution
To resolve this issue, use your domain's SMTP server to send emails from Sugar."

What there is to be done ?

I believe the SSL issue has nothing to do with a certificate but with the fact that there is no OpenSSL installed. You should also check your internet connection by trying to send and receive emails from evolution on the Ubuntu box (provided you're running a GUI version).

And of course you can use sendmail as your MTA but then you need to know quite a bit about setting up a mailserver.

Sugar's email is by far not the best and some say it's not even good but it definitely can do the basics.

    OK, thanks,

Why should I install OpenSSL ? I do not want to use SSL at all, at least I do not want to use it before I manage to get it to work without. In my mail settings there should be nothing requiring SSL at the moment.

Or do I need to install OpenSSL just to solve this problem ? Where should it be installed onto ? Is there a OpenSSL module for Sugar or where to does it go onto ?

Sending/receiving mail was OK in Sugar on the Ubuntu box, still is, but SugarCRM does nor work when it is now on the server (running LAMP) ?

    - Inbound IMAP mail with these same addresses and with the same settings working on both in my Win XP Outlook and Ubuntu Sugar, but it is not working on Sugar on the server. All the addresses and settings I got with this very same provider with the webhotel package.
    - Outbound mail works both on WinXP Outlook and Ubuntu box Sugar, but on server Sugar it sends either mails with my ISP's domain or my webhotel packages domain (my own domain, that is), depending is SMTP server according to my ISP's SMTP-server address or my webhotel packages SMTP server

Example: trying to send 3 mails; a@myisppriovider.com, b@myowndomain.com and c@somethingelse.com

    - If SMTP-server on Sugar is set e.g. mail.myispprovider.com, b@myowndomain.com does not get sent, nor does c@somethingelse.com
    - If SMTP-server on Sugar is set e.g. mail.myowndomain. com, a@myispprovider.com does not get sent, nor does c@somethingelse.com

The only big difference here is, that before Sugar was running on my computer and probably mail client was working just like the the other mail systems in my computer would work. Now Sugar is running on external server. And mail does not work.

Any ideas ? Is there any settings e.g. in the Sugar's php's I need to verify ? My server provider, btw, could not help with the issue, he thought it could be on the Sugar's end of things.

Edit: I found this thread from year 2006. It is pretty much the same problem and they did not get it solved then (at least in that thread) without any fancy relay servers etc....
    http://www.sugarcrm.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13274

Is kpit still around ? Did you get any further info on this back then ?

    Edit 2:
This seems to be solved now. When copying test database to production server, all mail accounts needed to be deleted and created again, with same settings.
