Default SugarCE 6.1 - Narrowing User's List on Assignment

    Hello all,

is there any way to narrow the list of users presented while creating new accounts/contacts/...etc to those, let's say, belonging to the same role to which who's creating a record belongs to?

Eventually, even disabling such "User list" feature could work out as well.

Of course I have been trying to set in role management LIST option to none on all modules, but when it comes to create a new, let's say, account, it always allows me to "list" among users when I want to assign that new record to someone. Besides I believe that LIST option refers to the ability to list Accounts, Contacts, etc. not the User's List available by clicking on Assign To button.

My goal is to avoid a specific "group" of users to see who else is registered as user on Sugar and, of course, simply hiding employees module, is not enough.

Thank you very much for your support and please accept my apology in case this issue has been already examined elsewhere (I swear I checked for at least a couple of hours).

My current SugarCRM version is Version 6.1.0 (Build 5389) with SecurityGroups 2.2.1 module

    All the best
    Dario

Well, I just found out that SecurityGroup 2.2.1 plug-in has an option for serving exactly this purpose.

Log in as administrator and see in admin / Security Suite Settings / Filter User list and flag that option.

Now, employees access list can be dis allowed to users by adding that php code found somewhere else, user list can be narrowed by using that plug-in in all assignment options, last place where users can see of other users is in ADVANCED SEARCH, where everybody can specify as an option to who that record is assigned to. On this list unfortunately SecurityGroup feature doesn't work.

    Any idea?

    Thanks for reading

good day today, it seems I found a reasonable solution on how to "bound" each users within his own borders without letting anybody see anything unless specifically authorized.

more specifically, how to avoid users belonging to a certain group to see about other users

    it happens in three places:

    * employee link (made accessible only to administrators by adding a specific php code found elsewhere)
    * assign to option (limited by users belonging to the same group of the owner, using SecurityGroup plugin)
    * advanced search - assign to option (limited by creating ad-hoc screen layout for limited users, still using the same security group).

Still the last solution is not excellent, it could have been better a solution like the assign to option, but unfortunately I didn't find anything similar yet and the above mentioned solution works well enough for me.

hope those notes will help somebody else.

have you all a good day
    Dario
