    Default SugarCRM

    Hi,

My company trawls the web looking for job leads on corporate sites which we sell to our recruiter clients. We are considering moving to SugarCRM as our platform as our current platform is not scaling as well as we would like.

I have a few questions that I was unable to get answers on. Basically I just want to know if these things are possible with SugarCRM out of the box or whether we will need to get someone to write custom code.

    1. All of our job leads are tagged with the space (IT), the subclassification (Software Developer), and the location (Sydney). Our customers subscribe to various spaces on our system so is there a way we can restrict the job leads they can see on a space basis and location?. So someone can see IT and Accounting jobs Australia wide or another can only see IT jobs in Sydney.
    2. I would like the ability for all users to add contact notes and other notes to any record on the DB. Is it possible to enable everyone to enter notes but they are only displayed to other members of their group or team. I would not want one customer seeing the notes created by another customer.
    3. When we add new jobs to the system can we set up custom email alerts which will send an email out every X minutes showing all the job leads created since the last update in one email. So someone could say "send me a consolidated email of all Sydney IT jobs with the word SAP in them" and set it to send this report every 30 minutes showing only new job leads since the last check?.

    Any help appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Adam

    1. The best way to let your customers access to SugarCRM is through a Portal .. Joomla is excellent for the task. then you can present the information to them from a friendly front end and mask SugarCRM complexity. You will also have far greater control over what they see.

    2. Again, the best way of doing this is through a Portal.

    3. Yes, but would need some custom coding

    Hi Dennis,

Sugar Portal for Zend Framework is a solution for your requirements. You can download it at http://www.sugarforge.org/projects/sgr-zend-portal.

In your specific case, it seems like you could define filters for each Contact that will have access to the Portal, so they only see the records they are allowed to see.

In other projects, we have deployed the Portal as:

    1. Customer Self-service Portal

    2. Partner Management Portal

    3. Customer Feedback Survey System

The portal leverages the Sugar customization features and the Zend Framework to provide great flexibility and extensibility, with minimal coding.

Please feel free to call or ping me on Skype (dtokeefe) to discuss your requirements.

    Best regards,

    David
