SugarCRM 6+ with Asterisk click to dial integration

Hi,

I've read through the forum looking information on how to get a click-to-dial function working on SugarCRM 6+ CE and Asterisk. I have tried all the plugins I could find on SugarForge and SugarExchange but could get none to work. While reading this forum I found that Trixbox was suggested several times but we have an existing PBX installation and would really like to avoid having to do a new setup just for a click-to-dial function. We also contacted Richlode systems about their SugarDialer plugin which seems promising but is in development atm and not yet available.

So is there really no way currently to get this to work with SugarCRM 6+? Does anyone have any other suggestions?

1. Download and install the PHP Asterisk Manager on your server. Get it working with your PBX (I'm assuming it's asterisk). You will need to have a dial plan that allows you to pass along a phone number to call and a 2nd "phone" to ring.
   
2. Extend the SugarField Phone
   
   change its functionality to become a clickable field much like it works today for Skype Out.
   This Field uses a Smarty Plugin called sugar_phone, you can create your own plugin
3. Utilize AJAX (you'll have to write your own JS) to call the PHP Asterisk Manager and pass along information about the phone number to be called and lookup information about the Current User to know who to ring.

So.. when you click to call 2 things actually should happen

1. Call to the SugarCRM User's Phone ... There should be a wait for the person to pick up the phone... If they do
2. Call the Phone number passed from the application...
