Default Re: SugarCRM MB String error

    Hello Maurice -

What version of Sugar are you using? If you are getting an MB String error, then you are likely using Sugar 4.5.0 as that is the first release that we require the php mbstrings module.

The mbstrings module allows php to handle multi-byte characters properly. Starting in Sugar 4.5, we have moved completely to Unicode for handling all strings in Sugar. This allows us to properly support all the different character sets for different languages.

That does mean some new requirements for the software that we run on top of. See the platform support matrix for a full listing of all the software versions we support.

Looking at your list of software you're running on top of now, I immediately see that you will need to upgrade your MySQL installation to at least version 4.1.2 or later. We no longer support MySQL 4.0 as that release does not support the UTF-8 character sets as we need it to.

Also, you might find this thread useful when it comes to enabling the mbstrings module in your php installation.
