    Default SugarCRM questions...

    Hi there,

I currently use GoldMine which we have found out that it kind of sucks when it comes to online use and a few other things... And it's way to expensive and just inst working... I'm thinking of switching to SugarCRM however I want to ask a few questions before I make my descision...

You only get 5 users for SugarCRM Open Source and you have to pay per user for the paid versions... Does the amount of users mean how many can be logged in at one time? Or is it the total users who you can set-up?

Can SugarCRM sync the calendar and contacts to a PDA or Laptop?

Can I use a third party script to access the database to view calendar appointments? I have a scritp set-up where salespeople can view their appointments and it would be good if I could intergrate it with SugarCRM... Saves having to enter apoointments twice... GoldMine couldn't do this...

    Thanks alot for your help!

With the Open Source version you can have unlimited no. of users. With the Professional and Enterprise version you pay for support and more functionality (geared to the size of the organisation). Licensing is on a per user basis.

With the Sugar Outlook Plug-In (Standard from Sugar Network version onwards), you can sync calendars, contacts, todos and emails etc.

Probably don't need the 3rd Party app for viewing calendars, use the Outlook Plug-In.!

    Hope this helps
    Cheers Malcolm

I also just paid for a GM - Sugar conversion - its a bit customised for us but it seems to work so far.

If you need, I can put you onto the developer so that you can make use of what I paid for and get him to customise the rest for you.

    Cheers

Yes, that would be good thanks. PM me if you like.

One thing you missed malcolmh was whether I could Sync to a PDA or Laptop... I'm not sure how it works exactly... Maybe the Outlook plugin will do it?

Synching Calendar and contact to Laptop via Outlook Plug-In meets your requirements as stated.

Syncing to a PDA not possible as far as I know! Access to Sugar via PDA yes from Professional version upwards with Sugar Wireless.
Sugar Offline Client available as Standard in Enterprise Edition, can also be bought for the Professional version. Can Sync most of your data from Sugar
