Suggestion for the Forum

Hello,

Just a quick suggestion.

I find it very hard, tedious and time consuming to search for answers on the forum. I always research the forum before posting a new thread.

I feel it would make things lot easier for people if the help forum was to be sub-divided. Says something like :

- General help
- Upgrading issues
- Technical issues
- Lead Module
- Report module
- Account module
etc....

Thatt would make searching for an answer much easier and I fell it would reduce number of posts through time.

Hm. I'm not sure if this could make things better. There are lot's of existing forums ...

If I'm looking for something I prefer using a standard search engine (Google). For me this is better than looking through the forums and this gives me much better results than the built-in forum search.

Here's how I search the forums, dev blogs, etc all at once (works better than the forums search). Using Google:
site:sugarcrm.com file permissions

If you want just the forum results:
site:sugarcrm.com/forums file permissions

You'll get the results you want faster.

Tried using your method and still gives the mass of unwanted topics or not the right related module. Searching in the forums gives out the same result in the forum or in google, so no gain there.

Anyways will keep searching for answers like I always do, and if I don't see it under a reasonable amount of time (5 minutes is my MAX patience span for looking for something), will create a new topic.

But I do feel help forum would be less heavy if it would be categorized.

I think it is always difficult to find a categorization which is ok for all users. Actually there are in fact different forums that try to categorize the threads. But if you ask five people you'll get five different answers HOW to categorize and which categorization would be the best... Each person is different and has it's own personal approach of searching.
