    Default Support for PHP 5.3.0?

I'm running on a group of Macs all on Snow Leopard, which comes bundled with PHP 5.3.0.

I tried installing 5.5 beta 2 and 5.2.0j and both failed, saying "Minimum Php version required is 5.1.0. Recommended Php version is 5.2.x."

Do any versions support 5.3.0 or plan to any time soon? Or do I have to downgrade my PHP?

    Thanks,
    J

I am sure some iteration of it will be supported in the future, but you might have to wait a few weeks or months before that happens.

Thus, if you want to install today, downgrade your version of PHP to a supported release.

That's kinda dumb. Is there anything that can be modified in the install scripts to ignore this check or otherwise let the check pass?

    Thanks for that assessment.

I am sure everyone is proficient at PHP, so that, of course, would be a "less dumb" route. Not to mention that you completely overlook the fact that just because one can hack it to get it installed doesn't mean it will work as expected.

The QA process involves more than simply making sure the application installs.

Thanks for your feedback, Angel. Instead of reconfiguring my system I may go with a free trial instead of my own install.

I was wondering about this too. It would be great to see this in the final release of 5.5. What would be nice is to have at least a switch in the installer like (I know its not supported but give me a try with PHP 5.3).

You can also install a ZendServer which comes with its complete set of PHP, Apache & MySQL. Its a second instance of your apache that might cause other issues. But in general this is an easy way to get a PHP 5.2 installation runing on Snow Leopard.

You could run a stack with php 5.2 in a VM on Snow Leopard.

Unhappy Re: Support for PHP 5.3.0?

    Hello
Is incredible but it is a very old problem, someone is looking for it ?. I have Zend Server instaled and lots of application instaled and tuned there, many of theses applications cant be in old version of php, i only want install sugar in my environment to work, i know its free of charge but people need it, i found a page that have a pack to upgrade sugar to 5.3.0 version but i lost it and cant found again, i think i see it in sugar page or in sugar forgue. If every application ask for a different version of php how many virtual machines i will need keep active at same time ? If someone know why sugar cant be in new version tell me i can try fix it i know a little of php.
    Thanks

    Remember ghfq,
That Sugar has been around for a while.
Have you actually looked at the of lines of code lately! It would be nice if the world was able to stay ont eh cutting edge be the fact is when someone like PHP change there versions they tend to do lots of liottle things that can cause and break lots of thing in programs. thus every file has to be checked against the new version to make sure it won't break things before releasing.

One thing you all should keep in mind (not angel or salesagility, they already know this!)

Redhat is still supporting only PHP 5.1.x (and its spin off ClearOS that I use). I have had to upgrade my php a hope not to break things to use Sugar. They are working on validatign 5.2 now. So sorry to hear you are ont he cutting edge but most mature platforms do not stay there do to the changes and upgrades required until after sonn time passes. Same thing is ultimately true of Sugar. A new version tend to break lots of stuff and its takes so time for the customizations and modules to catch up and settle down.

I would suggest getting an old machine and running it as a sugar server, forget piling it ont he Mac!

    Happy Sugar-ring, Paris
