Sync to Outlook in Free version of Sugar?

I'm testing out the free version of Sugar to compare against the Pro version. In the free version there is a field (flag) in Contacts 'Synch to Outlook'.

Does this do anything? Is it there for 3rd party programs or is there any functionality built into the use of the flag within the free version?

Your best bet for extensions and addon's is to look in SugarExchange and SugarForge. Below are links in both areas that refer to email managment

The JRabbit MS Outlook Plugin is a third party option. The SugarCRM Outlook plugin is available to Sugar Network Subscribers for the OS eddition.

Sure, I'm aware of the JRabbit and Sugar plugins, but what my question was about was what, if anything the flag field does in the Open Source version.

I suspect its just that - a flag to allow other synchronization methods than the Sugar Outlook Plugin. Alas, it it only a suspicion

The field allows you to limit what is syncronized with the Outlook plug-ins. It is also restricted by who the contact is assigned to.
