System Administrator Privileges are not saved

Install is on RHEL,
Version 5.2.0a (Build 5447)

I check the "System Administrator" box and save; no error is reported but the information is not saved and the box is not checked when I revisit the employee's profile

Check if the config_override.php field is writeable.

just in case you meant (I hope not) world-writable, I made it
