Default Target lists - selecting contacts

Is there any way to improve the selection of contacts to populate a target list. Currently the list of contacts can be filtered by account or first name last name. It would be good to be able to select additional criteria from a drop down list or lists as on the leads selection.

Are there any modules out there that do this?

Thanks, I have found it, installed it and it resolves part of my problem. I can now add contacts to target lists as the contacts are created. However, my customer has a need to have 4 new dropdown fields to categorise his customers. If these were on the advanced search and used to filter the contact list, I could then use power prospecting to add the subset to a target list - panacea!

This is defined in my other post http://www.sugarcrm.com/forums/showt...1624#post41624

I am happy to change the code, I just want to be sure I don't leave any side effects.

I'm also faced with the problem of having put in custom fields for my Contacts, but when I go to select Contacts for a Target List, those fields are not available to filter on. It appears to me that the popups for Target Lists, and the general Advanced Search is using different code. It would be a huge lifesaver to have the Advanced Search fields be available in the Select Contacts for Target Lists popup. Will this be available anytime soon?

Have you tried generating a Contact Report to start with?

You can stack as many filters as you like there.

Although I admit I don't know about the availability of custom fields in the Report Filter tab.

I'm using the Open Source version of Sugar, and unfortunately, Reports are not available in that version. Creating a large, filtered Target List of Contacts in the Open Source version is very painful. I'm having to hack in some SQL code in the _get_where_clause function anytime I want to filter on something other than name or Account.

I recently came across a nifty reporting tool called DBxtra which at $300 seems excellent value. You can tap into the Sugar database with it and export your list to Excel. You still need your custom fields in Contacts, but you can then filter on them in DBxtra. DBxtra runs on Windows and I'm running Sugar on Linux.

Yes these kinds of filters save huge amounts of time when building target lists. For ourselves, we added Category, and Business Role, as new dropdown fields to each contact - and then have them as part of the contacts search panel, and as filters on the pop-up select box for contacts everywhere, including for assembling target lists.

Hello! I am also using sugar open source. I am creating a target list selecting one-by-one (700 total) from the contact list. This is taking so much time . (I also have the target list on excel) Is there a way I can import this excel list into a campaign's target list without duplicating the contacts?
Thank you so much any advice would be great!
