currently using sugar open source 5.1
we used to have a custome field for task number which contained a number such as 358.1.JG.1
This number acted like a serial number for each task that a user worked on. 358 indicated the project number, 1 indicated which task, JG indicated the user who performed the task and the final number indicated what sub-task. We don't have the ability to create subtasks because we use the open source version.
I am wondering about using the built in Task Number field that is in the new version for this purpose. What I want to know is, is the Task Number field used in some other manner that I am not aware of?
The documentation doesn't seem to shed any light on the exact purpose this field is used for. right now, in my database it is blank.
any insights on how others use this field would also be invited.
