I am a newbie at Sugarcrm using open source version 4.2.1a

i have approx 200 tasks all assigned to the same user, but created by various users, i noticed that these various users were not updating the tasks status (e.g. in progress, completed etc etc), so when i went in as admin and updated each of these tasks individually i thought that all tasks would be in order. However i checked them today and it would appear that the status' have not stayed as i put them why is this????????????

please reply ASAP under many time constraints
