    Default Team Security Reassignment - Better Way?

    Better Way?

    Scenario: An Account Is Reassigned From Team A To Team B.

    It is my understanding that in order to have all modules data (Contacts, Opportunities, Quotes, etc.) related to this account move from Team A To B, one would have to manually go into each module, filter/ID records, and make the change.

    Unlike the global admin function that allows the move if Team B REPLACES Team A across all modules with one click, there is no function/methodology to move just one account “across the board”?

    This is a tough one. The issue is that many modules have a many-to-many relationship so where along the lines do you stop the prorogation of changes? There is also another possible issue with replacing a team that shouldn't be replace some where down the line. I'm hoping to find an answer soon for the SecuritySuite package that I'm working on.

    I have done it with Accounts and contacts. You can use the workflow management for that.
    Try it with that. you will find out how it works

    Thank you for the responses.

    If one uses team filtering for security (access to records) this can get tricky. My main concern is that if some of the records are not changed, one in effect creates an “orphan” record(s) that cannot be viewed by the new team and has no relationships on the old team. And all the changes are in the hands of users…not the best place to retain data integrity.

    Our current system maintains the thread of security by changing all the records related to an account/team throughout the system. Therefore the new “team” has full “view/access” to every piece of data.

    I will look at the work flow.

    As suggested above, I was able to use the Workflow to automatically make changes in the Contacts and Call modules.
    But as eggsurplus suggests, to cover the entire spectrum of related records can get tricky and maybe not very practical.
