Default Is there an easy way to reset Sugar back to its 'shipped' state?

    Hi

I have made some changes on Sugar which are not working although I would love to know why - see thread 'Studio changes effect my ability to view contacts' it seems it would be best to revert to my old version I am hoping reverting to the old version will not effect the current data on my system as I know it exists but not sure how best to do a rollback without damaging the current data
Obviously I backed up my old structure prior to making changes - errr NOT!

Please read my Studio changes effect my ability to view contacts forum entry to understand this fix prior to reading the below resolution as this is cse specific.

What I have done myself to resolve this
I do not recommend this unless you have like me failed to backup the DB before making changes in which case you should roll back to your previous version - Note - this is potentially dangerous to you database and smooth running of SugarCRM follow these insructions at you own risk - I am a newbie with Sugar CRM so thee is a large risk that I have completely upset the data or the way forms communicate with Sugar - techy peple feel free to make comments on damage this could cause it all sees to be fine now but I am not 100% sure there isn't unwanted leftovers I havent fixed

Firstly I took a backup of the SugarCRM (found in the admin screens) and MySQLDB

Then I manually deleted the new screens I had created (they were all Contact related screens) which I found in the directory below - the reason I deleted these was so that Sugar is not trying to display fields which no loger exist after the next stage.

    /var/www/crm/SugarCE-Full-5.2.0d/custom/history/modules/Contacts/metadata

Then I returned to Sugar CRM and removed all the new field I had created - these are fairly obvious as they are displayed in a section of the screen above the 'default' field under the Contacts 'fields' tab

I then for safety returned to the Admin main screen and selected the 'Repair' option in an attempt to clean up any mess I had inadvertantly created.
    I then selected
    Quick Repair and Rebuild
    Repairi Database
and all the cache clearing options

    Job Done

This seems to have worked successfully - although not by the book my systems now runs fine again

Deleting the custom directory and a subsequent quick repair would have done the same job. But you learned your lesson, did you?
