Transfer site OVER fresh install: DB & cache/uploads sufficient?

Hi all,

my SugarCRM 5.5.1 installation has just gone bananas. Per previous posts, I can't get emails (page is blank) and calendaring is wonky. Worst of all, Admin Studio etc is not there either!

I need to reinstall

But I need all my data.

If I do a fresh 5.5.1 CE install, then copy my DB and cache/uploads, then synchronise vardefs to DB, will that do it?

How do I take a SugarCRM site that may have some file corruptions and get the necessary bits over to a new (vanilla) installation?

a) what are the NECESSARY BITS?

b) how do I get them over?

first of all you need to have regular and robust insurance in the form of daily (at minimum) backups of data and application.

then before you make ANY changes, you need to take additional backups of the data and application.
