    Default Transition to new server

I am running a patched up SugarCRM version 4.5.1g on a Pentium 4 with 1GB of memory.

Server response times keeps getting between .50 to 1.25 seconds. I dont know what normal is, but it seems like a very long time between each request.

Planning stages now of moving it to a AMD 3800+ with 2GB of memory. Since there is no patch from 4.5.1 to the latest 5.X versions, we were going to do a fresh install (although I don't really want to if it is not necessary). With that being said, is there an "easy way" to get all of the customers and contact information from this version to a fresh install version on a new server? Still going to be using CentOS. Like is there an easy export/import feature that works very well including the studio drop downs?

you have to do a staged transition from 4.5.x to 5.0.x to 5.2.x, the files are all here

What about if I want to copy over the SugarCRM, all of its format and database and layout over to a new server since we did some customization? What would be the best way to do that? Copy the CRM folder and then dump the MYSQL database and then import into the new server MYSQL database?

Yes, grab the ENTIRE folder, backup and restore the db ... then edit config.php if the environment variables have changed
