    Default Tried to install new theme and Sugar stopped working

    Hi,

    I've tried to install a new theme, it didn't work out as the new theme didn't work on cross browsers, so I've put the old theme back. Now I must have missed something as the top tab (Sales, Marketing, Support...) stopped working. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what folder/files are missing or need to be replaced so I can get it done? I'm getting a bit desperate now and don't know what to do.

    How did you 'put the old theme back'?
    Which theme are you using now? Classic/Sugar5 theme?
    Which version are you using? 5.x ? 6.x?
    In which browsers do you get that problems?

    Hi Stefan,

    Thanks for your reply.

    I'm using 6.1.4 and all I've done to put the theme back was to upload 'default', 'Sugar5' back to 'Themes' directory in Sugar and then delete the 'ModernAqua' I had before. That's all. All seems to work fine apart from the top tab that I've mentioned before.

    I don't know exactly what theme I'm using (I still don't understand Sugar's theme system well) and it seems to me that classic and 5 are the same?!? If I'm to bet, I'd say I'm using Sugar5.

    I get this problem (links of the top menu not working) in all browsers.

    Did you delete the theme files in cache too? (cache/themes/<themename>) This forces sugar to reload the theme from the installation directory.
    You could try this if not already done. Maybe this helps. If not we can see what else can be done.

    Normally you can switch between themes simply by administration. Clicking on the username in "Welcome, <username>" opens the admin section where you'll find a tab "Themes" if there is more than one theme available. In this tab you are able to select the theme you want to use (each user can change it's own prefered theme). The administrator is able to preselect in admin->Themes which themes are available for other users and set a default theme.

    Ok, I've deleted after you suggested and now not only the top menu doesn't work still but the whole page is all messed up. Like all style has been removed/deleted. This happened the first I installed Sugar and I had to change permissions settings in some folders (which I can't remember now). Do you know which ones?

    And confirming, the top menu still doesn't work...

    Are these directories ok?
    • <sugar>/themes/default (plus subdirectories)
    • <sugar>/themes/Sugar5 (plus subdirectories)
    • <sugar>/cache/themes (should exist, but can be empty)

    Yep, these folders are fine and the permissions are also correct.

    Now that's weird (in my opinion anyway): I've created a second installation of Sugar with a new files, database, etc. All new, so I logged in and is all messed up as well (expected that) but surprisingly the top menu also doesn't work. Now I'm very confused.

    Any thoughts?

    Correction: I've changed the permissions and the top menu is working in the new install. What folder/files I could move from the new install to the old install to get it to work? I believe it must be a JS problem as I've just noticed that once you hoover over the top menu, the options underneath change and that's how the top menu work.

    Any ideas?
