Trigger a Workflow based on Date (not a field in CRM)

Hi,

Is it possible to create a workflow/logic hook that can be trigger based on the current date or a future date?

i.e. on the first of january, or when a new Calander year begins

You'd need to create a scheduler task to do this. Have the task setup for your interval and call the file with your logic.

Are there any examples of creating a custom sheduler? Is this something I do within Sugar or do I create my own cron job on linux?

If/When I do create a custom Scheduler will i just call a php file that carries out what is required? Does this php file have to have anything special code wise, will I be able to use the sugar beans etc... or will I have to use SQL statements?
