Default Trouble installing on OS X

    Hi,
I am having a hard time installing Sugar CRM on OS X 10.4 on a PowerBook G4, using the BitRock Mac OSX Installer 4.2.0.
The installation starts out OK, but as soon as I get to the Apache installation, I get a dialog requesting a port to use (80 suggested as default). When I click OK, I get the following message :
"Unable to bind the given port number. Please select another one"
Changing the port number doesn't help (the same error message is displayed).
Any clue what is going wrong ?
I have not activated the OS X firewall, by the way.
Thanks for your help on this,
    Edward Lichtner

You're probably running the built-in webserver already.. try disabling Personal Web Sharing in the Sharing preferences panel.

No. The personal web sharing option isn't selected in the Sharing prefs. Actually, none of the services are.
Does anyone here has actually been successful in running Sugar CRM on OS X ?
    Thanks all,
    Edward

    Edward,

I have it working on 10.3.9 with version 4.2.1c. I use MAMP for Apache/PHP and MySql.

I didn't use the BitRock installer. Instead, I downloaded the 4.2.1c "Previous Version" then copied the files into the proper folder and ran the installer. This worked fine.

I had wanted to install the 4.5 version, but it didn't take. The installer ran fine, but afterwards the index page came up blank. Seemed like one of the required files didn't take. I'm not sure if it was that I don't have JSON on my MAMP build or not.

In any case, the normal install is pretty easy. Just follow the PDF install instructions and you'll be fine.
