Default Trying to Create a New Contact.. why is the Contact's name disappearing?

    Hi again,

When I click "Create a New Contact", I type in a Name, I select the associated Account, and click Save.

The record appears to be saved, but the name field is blank.

Even when I then click "Edit", retype in the name, and click "Save", it's still blank.

Doesn't matter if I try typing in:

    John Smith
    Mr. John Smith
    Smithy

EDIT: While I'm at it, is there an easy way to get rid of this automated "Name" field, and actually show the individual fields of Salutation, First Name, Last Name?

    Nothing works.

    Help?

In answer to your second question, not really BUT you can modify things via the studio.

There really isn't enough info to troubleshooting why the first is happening. But at a first guess:
    1) did you get ALL the permissions set correctly on the sugar files?
    2) have you been messing around int he studio and changed things?
    3) have you run the various repair tools?
    4) in particular have you run the rebuild relationships since this sounds like what is failing?
    5) have you add modules?

Is there more info you can give us? Did this work and then stop working? if so what did you change for this to happen?

    Goo luck,

I haven't added any new modules or changed any settings that I am aware of. I am not sure if it has ever worked before - this is the first time I am trying to add a new contact.

One way I am able to add a new Contact is to drill down to a specific Account, and then from the Contacts subpanel, click "Create". There, I can enter a first and last name, click save, and it works.

But trying to type a name in to the "Name" field in Contacts doesn't work.

Definately run the repair and rebuild from the Admin menu.

Sounds lie a corrupt build int he relationships. You will note that there are several different repairs you can do. Make sure to run the rebuild relationship.

If you don't have much in the DB you could also just re-install. It doesn't take long.

BTW what OS are you running? and what web server?

    Good luck, Paris
