Unable to change theme sugarcrm CE 6.1

Hi All,
This is my first post i have spent the last 24 hours researching my issues on this forum however unable to find a resolution to my specific problem.

I have successfully install SuageCRM CE 6.1 and can use everything as expected. I have trouble when trying to move away from the "classic theme" to the "Modern Aqua" theme.

I managed to upload and install the Modern Aqua theme successfully and i can see it in my "Enabled Themes" list (Administration >>> Themes) i also see Classic theme in the list.

Usually i would expect to see a drop down menu where you can select the default theme. This does not appear.
Secondly i understand my log in page should also show a drop down menu where you can select a theme? This again does not appear anywhere.

I have tried modifying the config.php file and set default_theme 'ModernAqua' however again does not change anything so i reverted the change.

i am really at a loss what to do.

Finally thi occurs for every theme i successfully upload not just Modern Aqua. Has SugarCRM locked the ability to change themes in these versions?

I cant upgrade to the latest stable release because the theme i want "Modern Aqua" is not yet compatible and complains of the version when uploading hence why im using a lower version.

Any help appreciated.

i had this same problem. did exactly the steps you did.

here is the solution that worked for me

(1)
in config.php i set the default theme to "ModernAqua"

(2)
then I went into Admin >> Themes and in that drag and drop window i moved classic to disabled themes.

(3)
the real money here is just a simple rename of the Classic's theme folder... /Themes/ so rename from "Sugar5" to something like "Sugar5_off".

That did the trick for me. The ModernAqua theme is actually quite nice. Lemme know if that helps.

Ok after looking a little further into this...

If you go to Admin >> User Management

And you click the little "edit" button beside the user you can go in there and specify the them to be used by the user.

Okay,
I've tried both, but can't seem to get the theme ModernAqua to install for use. I've tried changing all the setting as listed above but no progress... I've also tried it by going into the admin... I can say that even the default theme is not displaying correctly. It's as if there was never any theme at all. The links are all bullet points running straight down the page...
