Default Unable to edit account details - fixed in last post

This morning we are suddenly unable to modify account details on our sugar 5.0.0a install.

It's from every login and on every account.

We are able to change contact details and notes etc, just not the accounts themselves.
edit: the changes appear on the log, they just aren't reflected in the database

It's on a dedicated linux server, there's a cloned version running (all of the custom fields etc, but an old database) on the same server which exhibits none of the same symptoms

    Any ideas anybody?

    Cheers

    Simon

Have you tried the functions in Admin -> Repair ?
Have you tried flushing the Cache (Sugar's)?
What do you think the cookie monster eats ?

    Thanks for the speedy response.

I've tried the repair options in the admin panel and in everything relating to flushing the cache in there too.

Incidently, I've narrowed it down to the custom fields which I cannot edit, the rest of the fields, the standard ones are editable.

    Still nothing.

    Any more suggestions?

Try renaming the cache folder inside sugar's root and run sugar again.
Usually when I have something not running after I customized something I delete the cache folder, but deleting it makes me loose something, that's why I suggest to rename it.
If it works this way, it means that your sugar didn't have in cache the right templates, ie without your customization.
What I'd try then would be to delete the newly created cache folder and put back the old one; then via the Admin ->Repair panel, I'd flush the tpl files.
One question: was your Sugar working with your customizations before?

I've tried your suggestions, and no change I'm afraid. Still the same puzzling issue.

My sugar was running perfectly up until this morning. I'm racking my brains trying to figure out if there's anything I've done which could affect it like this. It's a very specific part of sugar which has been affected, it should make diagnosis easier for me, but I'm hitting a brick wall :/

Thank you very much for your advice thus far, it really is appreciated.

Try removing the files containing your customization (see inside <sugar-root>/custom/modules/.

If it works the problem is in the code, otherwise it's somewhere else I have no idea of.

Tried that now, no joy :/

Thank you very much for all your assistance so far. It's really appreciated, even though a solution wasn't forthcoming, it helped a lot to get some outside ideas and at the very least find out what it wasn't!

    Fixed it.

What had happened was I had put a custom field in leads, and an identically named field in accounts, using the same dropdown. This is the root cause of the problem.

Thanks to anybody who read, and special thanks to DragonflyMaster for the time and thought he put into trying to help me.
