    Hi,

    I'm running Sugar 4.2.1a on a hosted server and have never used the email feature until now. I can compose an email and send it, there are no error messages or indications of anything untoward happening - or of anything happening for that matter.

    The emails never arrive and checking with my host, are never presented to the sendmail queue so it seems that emails are not leaving sugar at all.

    I have set the batch send quantity to one and checked the email settings.

    All the posts in the forum I have found do not address this problem, they relate either to inbound or SMTP. I don't have a SMTP service on the host to try it with.

    IF you resolve this problem you may have a larger problem. It appears that outbound Sugar emails are usually seen as SPAM by most clients and diverted to their junk mail. This seems to be a known problem by Sugar for a long time with no resolution in sight. There are a few threads that reference this problem. I'm surprised this isn't more of an uproar over something so basic. Good luck

    Yes I've seen the forum posts on that subject. To be honest, I don't see what that has to do with Sugar, that's more to do with the source of emails being blacklisted e.g. people running Sugar on a home PC on broadband will almost certainly be blacklisted. I would imagine there are some people out there using Sugar to send spam, hence causing a problem for everyone.

    If I get sendmail to work then my emails will be coming from the same domain as Sugar is hosted on i.e. the sender address will match the real hostname. I suspect another problem is where people are running SUgar from a different hostname than the emails are set to come from, this will get picked up by corpoate spam filters.

    Finally, I'm planning to use this to send individualised emails rather than mass mailings, so I think that will make a difference too.

    But first I have to get it working....

    Hi Pete

    I assume your setttings are correct.

    Admin -> Email Settings -> Mail Transfer Agent = sendmail

    and/or

    MyAccount -> [edit] -> Outbound Email Settings: Mail transfer agent = sendmail

    Did you find any infos in the sugarcrm.log? You can set the log filename in config.php and set the log level to debug in the file log4php.properties.

    Hi

    I have the same problem. When I use sendmail the message is not delivered. Trials with smtp didn't work either, I got a send error.
    System messages are being sent e.g. automatic invitations for meetings.

    Could someone please help me to solve this problem. I really like Suger CRM but without the email-function it is worthless.

    I am having the same problem. I am forced to use "Sendmail" for outbound emails because I can't get SMTP to work on Godaddy. I KNOW Sendmail works because I use it as the protocol in my Joomla installation on the same server and that one sends email just fine. So this is a SugarCRM issue specifically. Can any people responsible for SugarCRM post here and explain how to make Sendmail work?
