we've been using sugar for a few months now in production and are still lacking a few vital functions that i dont see an immediate work around for..
to effectively collaborate on customers, there should be ONE page for a CUSTOMER that shows the last modified of ANYTHING associated with that customer, and a universal status , or updates for anyone to append to that has worked on the customers account -- similar to notes, but more obvious and visible, not hidden behind clicks in a subpanel.
as it stands now, each customer has a lead, opportunities, contacts, quotes, cases, etc. the 'account' page would be an obviously place to track the 'health' or status of a customer -- but there is no account for a lead, and changes on opportunities, quotes, cases, etc are not reflected in any 'modified' or other obvious way on the account page. i cant just see the last time a customers information was touched universally. theres a way to add notes to opportunities, accounts, leads, etc -- but no central repository for a customer to see the most up to date status.
this is driving my boss crazy since in his paper world he wants all important information for a (potential) customer on one page so no matter who answers the phone, they will have all the information at hand without having to sift through 5 different clicks. this is made even more difficult because opportunities dont show up on a unified search for the account name.
This is also very important for our customer portal -- without one overriding universal status/notes , its very hard for a customer to track their own status or notes through their life cycle of lead, opportunity, quote, etc. at the moment we're just pulling a note field from the lead that we always have to go back to and update even if we change something later anywhere -- which by the way, triggers a bug that disassociates the lead from the opportunity. which im told is known and being worked on.
if anyone here can offer advice on how to work around this, or any easy add on that can offer such functionality, i'm open to it.
thank you
