Upgrade via FTP and external system

Hi,

I have a problem with an upgrade: I can't do it online, because my hoster doesn't permit changing max execution time. Anyway, I upgrade on another Linux machine, but I'm downloading everything to a Windows first.
After that, the whole way back.
Are there any problems with file / folder permission after uploading it from Windows?
And is there a routine like at the startup, that check whether everything is configured correct?

Hi Chris

Use silent upgrade. Using this you can upgrade via command prompt. And you will not face any max_execution_time problem or timeout probems.

Unfortunately I don't have access to the command line. It's just a shared host.
So I have to copy everything to another server to run the upgrade.
I had some issues on the upgrade-server but now, back on the production system everything works fine.

PS: I have now two instances of Sugar in two directories and two databases, just in case
