Default Upgrade Wizard, Versions and Asterisk

I'm trying to add asterisk_int to SugarCRM. The latest version is for 4.51 and I am running 5.00b.

I was hoping it would still install and run on this latest version of Sugar, but it doesn't.

The instructions call it a patch and say to install using Upgrade Wizard, but when uploading it reports the folllowing message:

Required steps must be completed before continuing.
The uploaded file is not compatible with this version of Sugar:
    SugarCRM System Version: 5.0.0b
The "patch"I was trying to install was from SugarForge at:

    http://www.sugarforge.org/projects/asterisk-int

Do all "Patches" written for 4.51 not work in 5.00b or is this a setting somewhere in the Patch files?

Is there any way around this?

Is anyone familiar with Asterisk_Int who could tell me what the true limitations are?

    Thanks

    Phil

The Sugar application framework changed quite a bit from version 4.5 to 5.0. There is a backwards compatability mode in Sugar 5 for the UI framework (the part that changed the most) but other API's changed as well.

Best bet is to contact the project admin and ask if they plan to update the project.

Thanks for the reply Clint. I'll see if I can find someone from this project.

I did a bunch of additional experiments, so here's more data with interspersed questions in bold:

I dug through the patch files to see if I could hack something to make it work. We're not yet in production and I had backups of everything, so I just went for it. I knew I was on dangerous ground and I was taking my own full responsibillity for proceeding here - None of this is a complaint about either software.

The manifest.php file in the patch has an array listing supported versions, so I added 5.0.0b to the list. The install then reported that the patch was for the wrong flavor of SugarCRM. I am running CE and the patch says it's for OS.

I could not find any info on OS - only Enterprise, Professional and CE. Does anyone know what the "OS" flavor is?

The manifest.php file also has an array listing suported flavors, so I added CE to the list. The install then ran to completion with one error saying that the SQL script could not be found.

I found the SQL script. It was a very simple single change that I could easily roll-back so I installe that manually.

I populated the new database field to activate the new functionality and logged in to SugarCRM.

The new phone icon was not displayed anywhere and the Accounts tab no longer displayed any accounts detail. Nothing would resolve this, so I re-installed SugarCRM and still no Accounts detail.

Finally, I deleted the entire SugarCRM folder tree and then restored from backup and all worked fine. So apparently the patch installs some files that break the Accounts details until the files are removed.

One BIG caveat on backup/restore - if you backup the SugarCRM folder tree manually as root, ALWAYS USE cp -p to preserve file ownership and permissions.

Except for this error on my part, I was very happy to successfully restore the entire SugarCRM folder tree and over 20000 Contact records in about 5 minutes preserving all data, customizations, layouts, etc.

    So that's my latest adventure.

Please pass on any information you have about Asterisk_Int whether it is personal experience, technical info, who to contact, etc.

    Thanks

    Phil
