upgrade works on Windows 2003 Server but not on XP

I am currently running 4.5.0c under Windows. I have two environments - one (running Windows XP) will eventually be "live" and the other (running Windows 2003 Server) will be "backup and test".

When I try to upload the patch for 4.5.0d on the XP machine - I get the following message

Specified directory '' for zip file 'C:\Program Files\sugarcrm-4.5.0\htdocs\sugarcrm/cache/upload/SugarSuite-Patch-4.5.0d.zip' extraction does not exist.

Same message for e and f.

When I run the upgrades on the Windows 2003 machine, it works.

Any ideas?

I have read quite a few threads on here and tried all the suggestions (e.g. commenting out a line defining base_dir, etc.) - nothing has made any difference.

I now think it has something to do with the differences between XP and 2003 (duh!), but I don't know what.

Your troubles are a combination of two problems: yourself & xp

If I read correctly that you're going to run a production server under XP, then I pray that the damage and harm experienced by any potentional users of your system, is minimal.

Any reasonably experienced WINDOWS COMPUTER USER would be able to recognize the problem in this case..
Take ANOTHER look at that path and filename... I'll give ya a hint, it has something to do with slashes..

If you intend on having others beside yourself use your Sugar deployment, then do yourself a favor and scratch all your sugarcrm dreams. Call me rude and blunt, though the truth is you have no right to be responsible for a sugarcrm system in which other people are dependant upon.

If such sugar deployment is for your personal use, then by all means keep at it and good luck..

BTW XP is the worst OS for any type of server/daemon environment, absoutely horrible.
If you want instability, headaches, and constant crashes, etc.. Stick with your XP idea..

I'd suggest ya spend $100 on a decent used puter and install Trix.

There's no real need to be nasty.

My eventual OS will be Linux. The 2003 server is being used now in production by Goldmine users and I don't want to risk disturbing them. So - the machine that's available to me right now is running XP.

I am certainly no fan of XP (or anything Windows), but I use the tools I have at the moment. When I have something I can demo and "sell" to our salespeople, I'll worry about moving to Linux. Although our primary development environment is Linux, I personally will use whatever tool I have.

The path name was generated by the Upgrade Wizard - not by me. And it works on the 2003 server.
