Default Upgrading from 4.2 to 4.5 options

Can I back up my 4.2 data.
Install 4.5 on an other server.
Then import my 4.2 data directly into 4.5?

I am finding that the direct upgrade has too much for me to upgrade.

I have to change php version that’s not supported by CentOS in a rpm yet.
    I have 4.3.9 I think I need 4.3.10

I have to change the permissions on a lot of directories and files, which I have to remember to change back when I am finished.

    Anyway is my suggestion plausible.

No not directly. you would have to run the upgrade on the 4.2 database first before installing the data on the 4.5 database. best to run the upgrage then copy the database to the new machine.

Just wanted to add that SugarCRM 4.5 does not support PHP 4.3.9 or 4.3.10

You can use 4.3.11, but we recommend 4.4.2
