    Default Upgrading from CE to Pro

    We are upgrading from the community edition to sugar pro. We have a lot of data in the community edition that we would like to see moved to the pro. We have also made changes to some of the tables in community (like added a division for an account), will the table structure need to be moved first?

    We are just looking for the best practice for moving from one edition to another.

    In the Download Manager (accessed via the Support Portal) you will have access to Pro conversion scripts that will walk you through the application and data conversion.

    I found the zip file that you mentioned but it is very convoluted and the bigger problem is the way the solutions are hosted. Today, we host the CE version but the Professional version is hosted by Sugar. I don't even have access to server it is on. I sent an email to the Customer Advocate group to find out who mine is.

    How long should I expect to wait for a response from cagroup@sugarcrm.com?

    As an aside, you are actually talking about performing two different operations. The first would be upgrading to Pro and the second would be to migrate to another server.

    There is no formal tool or process in place that would upgrade your CE instance to Pro and simultaneously migrate it to another server, in this case, the On Demand platform.

    The latter is going to require some manual work which should be performed after you've upgraded your CE install to Pro.

    Which is strange to me that there is no formal process. I would think that many companies would try the community edition to determine if Sugar is a product they want to invest in.

    So, if I understand you correctly, you are saying that I need to upgrade my current version of CE to Pro before I try migrating the data to the On Demand version? There is no way to go from CE to Pro On Demand version? I was hoping that I would just be able to Export the information and Import it on the new instance.

    I was contacted by the Customer Advocate and he is also trying to help.

    Actually, there is a formal process in place for this at Sugar. Your Customer Advocate can get you started, and it will involve some folks from our Support team. I'll talk to your advocate to make sure he's aware of how this works.

    Apologies for the confusion, Susie's message was what I meant to communicate. i.e. it requires help from Sugar team as there isn't a tool you can download to make it happen.
