    Default User Authorization

I am new to SugarCRM. I have downloaded and installed the opensource program. I am pleased with what I see so far. I have two quick questions:

    1) As admin, I set up a new user with no admin privledges. I log out as admin and then try and log in as my new user.
Doesn't work and I can't figure out how to do this. Obviously, this programs wasn't developed just for admins to view the data, right?

I have a team of four sales/customer service associates. I expect more, possibly many, to be added in the future. I also have superiors that will need to review and comments on the data generated.

How can other users access SugarCRM with editing capabilities, etc.?

    2) What are the major differences between the opensource program and the paid versions?

These are more than likely fairly newbie questions but my initial searches of the forum did not emlighten me.

    Thanks in advance.

Ther is a timezone question that must be answered on a new users first login. Answer the question and all functions then work. SugarCRM is dependant on timezone to display the correct time of events based on timezone.

A short answer is here for your question about the editions. The most important features I think added are Workflow and simple reporting for the Pro Editions. And the advanced reporting for enterprise.

Thank you for your prompt reply. My problem is that it won't even allow my new user to log in. It advises I am using an invalid username or password. Only users with adminprivledges are able to log in.

That could be the problem. I've gone back and tweaked them so many times and nothing helped.

Therefore I set up another generic account as with all field simply "test". Logged out as admin and successfully logged in as "test".

Trying to figure out how to delete a user now. I want to delete my initial user and set him back up.

First for standard users you should never check portal only user or group user as these disable login to the sugarcrm system directly.

Yes, that was it. I unchecked those instances and all is fine. This allows me the level of testing I was seeking!

Can a user be deleted or do you just make them inactive? I see in the admin panel that an employee can be terminated, but not deleted?Thank you once again for your help.

Edit #1: Ok, I found a thread where the relationships between users is important to retain and the delete function is not incoporated within SugarCRM. As this is a "test" install, I assunme if I delete any users via phpMyAdmin I won't screw anything up, right?
