User can not list Accounts

I have a super-user with full access to all modules, who suddently can not see the Account list when going to the account tab. Also, a search for known account names returns nothing. Clicking on recent accounts that have been visited DOES take her to the record.

No other users are experiencing this.

We are running 4.5.1e on the downloaded community edition "appliance".

The only change that was made to the system today was to add a new custom field to the Account page. We have made a number of such changes before, with no problems. So, we don't believe that caused the problem - especially since everyone else can see the new field.

Any ideas?

Have you tried clicking "Clear" on the search area for the Accounts list view?

To which user is the Account assigned?

what exactly is the definition of the new field? a popup? with numeric database values?

CLEAR does not correct the issue.
The new field is a basic 15 character text field - no drop downs, nothing special.

Could this be a database relationship problem?

Fixed - but not exactly sure what happened here.

I was grasping at straws on this, and just happened to click on the "Account Name" heading (as if to sort) at the top of the empty Account List. That brought all the accounts back (I was logged on as the user).

Anyone want to venture a guess as to what happened?

It sounds like you have a bunch of blank Accounts with a blank value in the column that you were using to sort prior to clicking the Account Name column header.

Well, except that the user would do a search for a known account name and nothing was returned. I logged on as the user and did an advanced search to find all accounts assigned to a particular user, and got zero results. ........and I can't find any account records with a blank account name in the database.

This one is really weird...

Pretty strange...

I suppose another possibility is a corrupt index, but like you said, weird.
