User Management - Cant delete users?

Hello World!

I have just installed and started using SugarCRM open source and I love it!

After playing around with user settings and showing some friends what Sugar can do by giving them accounts on my system I am ready to use it for real. The only problem is I can't seem to delete the users I created?! I can set them as inactive, but there is no delete option? Am I doing something wrong?

Any help would be appreciated.

You are correct - there is no delete option. If this is just evaluation - perhaps re-run the installer at this point. Otherwise - users that are no longer needed can be made Inactive - and then later (when any history objects have been removed or re-assigned) renamed to be recycled as new users.

In my limited experience there is NO WAY to delete the users in either the opensource or the Pro version using the GUI. There might be some way to do this by removing the records from the MySQL database using some othere access method that Sugar.

It does however make sense.... Think about it... You need to know who created a record so the user is assigned to that record. If you now go and delete that user, you may just end up corrupting your database.

No, that is the way the application is designed, you cant delete users however they may become inactive. Im not sure exactly why, but this is the way it works. You can however delete them from the users table in the database, but I wouldnt recommend it. You can always do a fresh install of sugar.

I have seen other CRM systems handle this issue by "tranferring" records, etc to another user/group.

If you are running 4.5 there is a module available on Sugarforge called admin tools which allows you to delete users and re-assign their records to other users before you do.
