User roles

Hi,

I want to set up the user roles so that the users can only view acounts, meetings, calls, etc. assigned to them when they log in. How can this done? Help!

Hi Nikki,

all you need to do is go into the Admin section and click on Role Management. You will need to create a role, and for each module you want to limit, set the Edit, List, View, and Export to 'Owner'. This means that users will only be able to see the records that are assigned to them in the List view, Detail view, edit view, and export only records assigned to them.

Once you save the role, add the users you want to apply this to in the 'Users' submodule.

I have created a module Product List,I want to set up the user roles so that the user can only view Product that he created by self not by others,

For this i have created A role called Supplier and i have assigned this roles to users where they have owner access on Product module.but on cllick on list view of product..it is shown blank.How can this done? Help!


and one other problem i want to hide Product List from Tab i want to access from another tab,but its not showing shortcuts,for create nad for list view.How can this done? Help!

Hi Nikki,

I have created a module Product List,I want to set up the user roles so that the user can only view Product that he created by self not by others,

Make sure that the 'Access' is 'not set' OR 'enabled'
The List in your case should be set to 'Owner'
The 'View' should also be set to 'Owner'

Please remember that by default, 'owner' is the Assign to user. If the assign to user is not populated, then this becomes the 'created by' user. So if the user who created the record is not the assign to person, then they will not be able to see the record.

I am not 100% sure what you are asking here. Do you just want to hide the Product List tab from the list of modules that appear at the top of each page but still have this available via subpanels?
If this is the case, then for each user you need to highlight and select this module from the Display Tabs to the Hide Tabs column in the Layout options of the user settings. However, this is something that the users have access to and can change.
