Default User unable to access Notes even though role allows it

I have a user that when placed into a role which grants them access to the notes module (among other things) gets an Access Denied error when attempting to view a note on an account. If I take the user out of the role, he can access it without problem. I created a new test user just to try it and the test user works as expected when placed in the role. I have tried the repair functions and have even looked at the database level and compared the IDs for the role and the user and according to the database the user is assigned the role.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm currently running on 5.2.0i (build 5757) I have had this problem since 5.0 and I'm just now getting around to asking for help on it. I had updated to 5.2 hoping that the problem had been fixed, but apparently it isn't. I can update to the latest if needed.

    Thanks,
    Rich

First, what are the role restrictions, if any, for that role for the Notes module? You say that they have access to the Notes module, but are they any restrictions, ie did you set it so that users can only view records which they are the assigned user etc?

Second, if you look at the editview of the user experiencing the issue, and you scroll down to the Layout Options area, is there anything that appears under Hide Tabs or Admin Remove Tabs?

Here are the settings of the Notes module inside the role:

    Access: Enabled
    Delete: None
    Edit: All
    Export: Not Set
    Import: Not Set
    List: All
    View: All

Under Layout Options - nothing is under Hide Tabs or Admin Remove Tabs.

    Thanks for your help!

I had the same problem on the Notes module.
The problem was on the Task module which was disabled.
I put the Tasks module Enable in the Roles management and my problem was solved.

I dont know if oyur task module is disabled, but could be the reason of your problem

    I hope it will help
