Hi, I am using the SugarCRM 5.5.4 Community Edition. I am facing some problems with the Users and Roles module. I have multiple roles like "Sales Manager" and "Marketing Manager" in my deployment. Naturally each of these roles has its own sets of modules that it can view; so while the "Sales Manager" profile cannot view "Campaigns," the "Marketing Manager" profile cannot view "Leads," and so on and so forth.
However the organization for which I am deploying this has the same person (say user john) who serves in both capacities simultaneously and so I assigned both the roles to him. This has however created a real problem for me because the permissions are ANDed to the most restrictive one, and as such john can neither see the "Campaigns" module, nor the "Leads" module.
I would have expected that the permissions would have been ORed, so that the user has access to *all* the modules that he is allowed to view based on the multiple roles assigned to him. I really am finding it tough to get round this problem, and the only alternative would then be to have the same human user assigned different user logins like john_mktg, john_sales, and so on, which really defeats the purpose.
My question is: is there any way that I can OR the permissions, so that the user gets all the permissions assigned to him?
I would be grateful for any help in this matter. Thanks in anticipation.
