    Default Using LinkedIn Connector Effectively

    Hi,

I can't figure out how to get the best use of the LinkedIn connector. First, when I try to map fields, there only seems to be one field available, usually the company name. I'd also like to be able to map people's names to use the connector for contacts, leads, etc.

Also, I can't for the life of me figure out how to import the found LinkedIn data into SugarCRM. I've read that the data can be merged, but I don't know how to do it.

    Can someone enlighten me?

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Hi Mark,

It's my understanding that the LinkedIn API that we're using only can map Company Name and not other fields. That's why it's the only one that is available.

Regarding merging, the Pro and Enterprise editions of Sugar have a "data merge" button that lets you pull data from the data sources (Hoovers, LinkedIn, etc), decide which fields you want to include, then update your Account record with the information. For Community Edition and SugarExpress, the LinkedIn connector lets you hover over an account name and search for contacts that match that Account name.

It appears company information is the only use.

It would be great if we could use it for contacts and their information. Any idea if that's being worked on?

Any news on an updated LinkedIn connector? We also would get much more value out of a connector for Contacts.

The problem with linkedin to get contact and search throe it you would have to register an application. Since i don't think they will allow 1 application for every sugarcrm install you either have to:

    1. Do it yourself

    or

    2. Forget connector, do it throe some other way.

Ii can offer you solution, if you have users linkedin username you can implement a little linkedin button somewhere when pressed on it popup will appear and show his info, but you can't retrieve data from it.
