Variables not showing up in Email Templates

I'm running Version 5.0.0c (Build 3187) on Linux/Apache with cPanel 11.18.3-RELEASE 21703, PHP 5.2.2 and MySql 4.1.22-standard

Everything is great except for some reason when I try to insert a variable in an Email template they do not show up when I send the email, they just appear as blank fields in the email. Are there any known bugs regarding this issue or has anyone else had this same problem?

I have exactly the same problem. However I was able to send myself a test email and it would show the $account_name variable but then after creating a 2nd test account it wouldn't show anything

so I can add my post here with the same problem, inserted variables in e-mail templates are empty with the version 5, what can I do? Eric
