    Question Very slow Sugar CE

    Hello,
we've got a problem with our Sugar CRM 5.2.0a (Build 5447) CE.

The software was installied on an Intel Xeon system with 8GB RAM and Red Hat Linux - located in the USA (we are in Germany).
We are accessing the web with DSL speed (2000).
Now, the problem is, that the application is running slow.

The browser (Firefox) needs about 8 - 10 sec for loading each site of Sugar CRM. Loading the content (not the e-mail itself) of a downloaded e-mail takes about 1:30 to 2 minutes !!
The server response time on the other hand seems to be good (0,5 to 0,9 sec)

We are also running Sugar CRM on a local Windows XP machine, with similar speed problems.

We also had a look at the testaccount of iscongroup ( http://demo.iscon.at/ )
and there, the loading of each site takes about 2 - 3 sec (server response btween 0,2 and 0,8 sec)

Our Sugar speed can't be normal.
What is the problem and how could we solve them ?

    Hello,

we've got exactly the same problem with SugarCE 5.2 on a Windows 2003 Server. We are using the IIS for webserver.

So it's not a problem of OS or the webserver. Which database are you using?

    bye,
    lutz

    Thanks for help.

The developer mode is already "off". Are there some other reasons?

This is not your solution but have you considered hosting it in Germany?
    Have a look at www.hetzner.de

Yes, we have considered, hosting it in Germany, but our director says, that this (in his opinion) is not the solution of the problem.

He mentioned, that our local Windows system with Sugar is as fast as the Red Hat server in the US - so in his opinion it must be a configuration error.
He also said, that the provider of the US server won't be successful on the market, if he would indeed provide slow servers for his customers.

Even after I told him, that it's a difference, if you acess the US server in the USA or in Germany, he still mentioned, that it won't explain, why the local server is so slow, too.

I also must say, that the both Sugar systems were not set up by me - and I therefore didn't had anything to do with the decision of setting up Sugar on an US server.
I'm now just trying to solve or locate the problem - so that we could use Sugar for our CRM purposes.

I agree hosting in Germany will not solve your problem but it will (always) be faster than hosting in the US.
Did you try accessing the US server from somewhere else with a better Internet connection?

Bad config on sugar can make it slow, but since you have good server response times the problem appears to be connectivity.

Try installing fasterfox on firefox and check the page load times for basic things like opening a listview and post more info here.

Have you tried restarting apache ?

We found a memory leak in apache & restarting solved a lot of our speed issues

I tried to install Fasterfox, but the latest version (2.0.0) is not compatible to Firefox 3.0.6

Regarding the restart of Apache: I'll try it soon.
I'll then let you know the result of this action.
