Views for multiple email accounts

I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on whether or not I can achieve the following (in Version 5.0.0f (Build 3338) ):

I have multiple (6) email accounts setup within one user profile. All six send and receive emails independantly, which is I what need. However, by default, the view on the right side of the mail client is of the first Inbox. Is there a way to amalgamate all Inboxes into a single view (otherwise I need to hit each one to check for new mail)?

Alternatively, the Inbox title also shows the number of unread emails in bold beside it. This would be enough to show me, at a glance, which mailboxes had new mail. However, each time the mail is retrieved from the server, the folder structure collapses and I need to expand each one to see the Inbox (and the number of unread emails).

I do not believe that this is possible out of the box and I do not think that you'll find anybody to customize the email module at this stage.
If you set all your email accounts to retrieve mail automatically then there is sort of an overview available on the left menu pane under shortcuts/emails.
Unfortunately the email dashlet for the front page doesn't exist anymore - you may want to check under feature requests whether you find a thread/poll that you can support.
